BILLIE HOLIDAY: A SNAPSHOT
The first major crush of my twenties was Billie Holiday. It seemed like all she sang about was love but there was a sadness under those words that embodied something deeper. Her voice hit chords that couldn't be reached by music, notes which somehow connected us together. She was dead and I, alive, but for a moment that impossible barrier had been breached.
